Indianola's liquid plant went through some revisions since the 2007 season, also. Their automated system was replaced with an updated larger system. Overhead tanks where added to an outside load-out pad and a second mass flow meter was added. Additional horizontal storage tanks were added to the tank farm. An off premise tank was accessed into the tank farm by piping and adding a culvert, bringing relief from last years trucking the product over.
North Platte is operational with two new overhead load-out tanks. A new automation system with chemical induction system was added this spring to their liquid plant. This opportunity gave them insight to streamline plumb their entire tank farm for speed and efficiency.
The Edison facility is in it first year of operation. There has been a steady line in the five bay facility. We had good days of loading 100 plus trucks per day. We operate seven custom application machines from this facility with ease. We are covering more acres, more efficiently. With this year's unforgivable winds and rain, it's let us keep up with the alfalfa, wheat, corn, and soybeans.
We have spent a lot less time moving product from large storage tanks, namely Edison and North Platte, to other locations. We seem to be using the semi trucks more for customer delivery and shipping product into our locations from our fertilizer suppliers.
We were fortunate this spring to have almost all of our employee positions filled. Agronomy locations have been helping one another through the busiest times, moving people and equipment where it is needed most.
Early buying opportunities for our patrons paid off big time. Fertilizer shortages are not uncommon in the industry. Fortunately, we have continued to find product. The fertilizer supply issues continue to effect fertilizer prices. More on that topic for next month's article.
