Ag Valley Welcomes Tyrell Fickenscher!

Tyrell is our new Agronomist at our North Platte location.

Tryell comes to Ag Valley by way of Colorado. He grew up on a dryland farm in Southeast Colorado where he learned the "ropes" of farm life.

Tryell graduated from Colorado State University with a B. S. degree in Soil and Crop Science with a concentration in Applied Information Technology.

Tyrell and his wife, Angela, live in North Platte and have one son, Joseph, who is 5 months old.

Scott Hillius, continued from page 3

On yet another farm visit, the farmer employed 13 employees and owned three spray planes.  Of which, two were up in the state of Mato Grosso where much of the expansion is taking place these days.  Someone noted that three to four times the land could be bought in the state of Mato Grosso from the proceeds of a sale of ground in this southern region of Brazil.  However, much of this is offset by the high costs of clearing the land of brush and trees.  This day was finished off by yet another great meal and great conversations about the day's events.
It's now Friday and it's finally sinking in that we will be heading home soon but not before we were treated to a day of fun and relaxation at a natural hot spring spa/water park. This very luxurious resort, with a family atmosphere, was created by a depression in a small mountain range. It was a wonderful atmosphere.  This was quite a way to spend this writer's birthday, not one I'll soon forget. We spent our final night at this resort in Caldas Novas, Goias.
After breakfast on Saturday, we drove into Uberlandia, Minas Gerais spending a couple hours at a shopping mall, picking up a few souvenirs.  Before catching a domestic flight from Uberlandia to Sao Paulo, we ate a nice lunch.  From there it was back to Chicago (another terribly long flight) and a final connection into Lincoln.  Thirty hours later I was back home and ready for bed.
This has been a very abbreviated version of our trip but hopefully gives you an idea of what we did.  We traveled close to 1,000 miles by bus north, north-west out of Sao Paulo.  This felt like an extensive trip but when you look at the map, we barely scratched the surface of Brazil.  I will always have fond memories of the people met while on this trip and the experiences shared.  I can't wait to go back and recommend it to all.  A big thank you to those who made this trip possible.  Words can not describe my appreciation.
