Asian Soybean Rust is still in the forefront of most producers minds. We at Ag Valley Coop will continue to monitor the situation and share the information that we have available. The locations that the rust has been located in Louisiana and Missouri have experienced climatic conditions this winter that will not allow the disease to overwinter.

What does this mean for us? Since we do not know where the disease is established but not identified, we still have risk but it is less than what we have been told last fall. However, it is important to remember that we do still have risk and it is a matter of when, not if when, we will see the disease in the United States. We will be paying close attention to our neighboring states South and East of us. If we find that there are indeed infested fields in those areas and the area is moving our direction, we will begin an agessive treatment program.

At the time, both academic and chemical manufacturers have also established networks to share the information as expediently as possible. If you have concerns about infestations, please contact your Sales Agronomist as soon as possible, since this is a fast moving disease. We at Ag Valley will do our best to get the information to our customers as effectively as possible.
